Crafted by artisan cooperatives in Narsapur, India, this ultra-soft set features 'cornsilk white' 100-percent cotton fabric. The intricately crocheted patterns boasts traditional Indian designs. Narsapur is a small town situated on the west bank of the Vasista Godavari river, near where the river flows into the Bay of Bengal. Historically the region has been famous for its textile artistry; however, by the 1970s many of the traditional artisans were forced to work in sweatshops for meager wages. Then, in the 1980s, a group of women joined together to form a cooperative association to compete with the region's textile sweatshops, and today more than 600 women make a living working for themselves producing these wonderful crocheted products. We strongly recommend that you hand wash your bedspread and pillow covers in cold water and hang them to dry, or have them professionally dry cleaned.
